Rare Twin Shelby GT500s Doomed To Demolition Derby
Jim Vernichten can think of nothing more amazing than winning two rare Shelby GT500s, then racing them in a Demolition Derby. “I always show up in old junkers, and I can’t wait to see the guys’ faces when I show up in these”, Jim proclaimed.
His dream may come true July 4th, 2010. On that day, the Healing Heroes Network will be giving away two rare and absolutely gorgeous Shelby GT500s. For just $3 anyone can be the proud owner of a 1967 Shelby GT500 and a one-of-one 2010 Patriot Edition Shelby GT500. Proceeds will go to the Healing Heroes Network, a national charity dedicated to providing free medical services to our wounded troops.
Upon winning, Jim and his buddy Brick plan to drive the cars straight to the Demolition Derby at Ocean Speedway, in Watsonville, California scheduled for July 9th.
“The 1967 Shelby GT500 has a 428 Cubic Inch Engine with two four-barrel carburetors, and desirable four speed transmission, resulting in a predictable ground-pounding, tire-shredding beast. Shelby wheels add to the original appearance of this restored iconic muscle car.
The 2010 Patriot Edition Shelby GT500 is a stunning one-of-a-kind Shelby called the “Patriot Edition,” to honor the brave troops served by the charity. It features a supercharged 540 horsepower engine and mind-numbing acceleration. The Patriot Edition serial #1 of #1 is the only 2010 Shelby produced in Wimbledon white with guardsman blue stripes, as well as several other unique modifications. One-of-a-kind emblems confirm its unique place in automotive history. The Ford design team has signed the car verifying its authenticity.”
