Billet Fuel Rails From Shelby
Hot off the presses is Shelby American’s new precision-machined billet fuel rails for the 2005-2010 Mustang GT 4.6 and the 2007-2012 Ford Shelby GT-500 5.4 engines. They look great and have better flow for those demanding modded motors out there. Unlike many other aftermarket fuel rails, these are created from machined billets, rather than being extruded into one big hot mess like energy drinks are nowadays.
These new rails have an engraved Shelby logo on them and are anodized to look great for a long time. They are proudly made in the U.S.A. like all other Shelby products.
These puppies are ready to go with mounts for the factory fuel pressure sensor and nitrous. The ports are angled away from the blower on the GT-500 models to provide clearance for other underhood accessories.
The GT 4.6 kit includes a custom-made braided stainless steel fuel crossover line with swivel fittings, a port plug for the front of the passenger side rail. These rails can be used with the factory returnless fuel system or with a custom return-style fuel system.
MSRP is about $320.
New Steering Wheels For 2005-2011 Mustang
Grant Products just announced they will be making a new Revolution series steering wheel for 2005-2011 Ford Mustangs. They will produce wheels with and without the ROUSH logo on them. They will be offered in various colors to match your taste and your ride.
The wheels are actually made from OEM core wheels and the airbag and button controls all swap over. They have a different feel and grip, with race-inspired flat areas, as well as black suede. These sweet touches will grab $500 out of your pocket though you can get back $80 if you send them your factory wheel afterwards.
Paul’s High Performance Stage III for Shelbys
The 2007-2009 Shelby GT500′s are rated at 500-hp at the flywheel, while the GT500KR’s and the 2010′s are rated at 540-hp. New in 2011 is a 550-hp GT500 all-aluminum motor, which is also 102-lb lighter than the outgoing year.
The 500-hp at the crank typically works out to 425-hp at the rear wheels. In comes Paul’s High Performance, who offers the PHP Stage III Performance Package, good for another 120-hp and similar torque gain at the rear wheels.

2009 Shelby Cobra Jet
The package costs $1900 for a nearly 30% horsepower boost, and includes a flowed and ported blower with an overdrive (undersized pulley), throttle body, fresh air kit, and tune.
Dyno testing have shown this package to yield around 554-hp, 520 torque, at the rear wheels!
Find out more at Paul’s HP website.
Add Power With Cams and Phaser Limiters for 3v’s
The 3-valve 4.6-liter V8 Mustangs may soon be overshadowed by the brilliant new 5.0-liter 2011 Mustang GT’s. That doesn’t have to mean being slower than their new brethren! With the new Stangs starting at over $30,000, the former 2005-2009 Mustangs can be bought and outfitted nicely for less cash.
One tried and true way to increase performance, especially with non-stock engines is with cam phasers, which adjust the cam timing so the intake valve closes sooner at lower rpm and later at higher rpm. Timing is normally retarded about 10 degrees when measured in crankshaft rotation at full throttle, but at part throttle Ford calibration can retard timing as much as 60 degrees for better fuel mileage and reduced emissions.
Anytime you advance the cam, the intake valves get closer to the pistons, and anytime you retard the cam, the exhaust valves get closer. If precautions aren’t taken, then an aggressive cam could smash and burn all the valves into the pistons.
Along comes Comp, whose phaser-limiter kit allows the cams to be retarded a max of 10 degrees so you can slap in healthier cams for more power. With the limiter and new cams, you can get 25-30 additional horsepower at the rear wheels.
By also swapping out the valvesprings you can get 48-hp added at the rear wheels. You can get even more power by tweaking the cam timing curves in the computer. The cost of just the limiter is $185.75 from Summit Racing.
Finally: Aftermarket 2V Mod Motor Cylinder Head
Trick Flow recently announced their new Cylinder Heads for 2-valve Ford modular motors. There hasn’t been much out there on the aftermarket for 2V heads, until now!
From their website:
“AKRON, OH—Twenty years ago, Trick Flow Specialties revolutionized late-model Mustang performance with the introduction of the legendary High Port® cylinder heads, and did it again in 1996 with the release of the innovative Twisted Wedge® heads. In 2009, Trick Flow will revolutionize the Mustang scene once more with the debut of its newest high performance heads–the Twisted Wedge Street/Strip Cylinder Heads for Ford 4.6L/5.4L 2V engines!
The heads feature Trick Flow’s patented Twisted Wedge combustion chamber design coupled with an intake valve moved to the opposite side of the camshaft–just like the 3V heads on 2005 and later 4.6L/5.4L engines. The benefit is a dramatic increase in mid-lift airflow, plus increased piston-to-valve and valve-to-bore clearance that allows the use of higher lift cams and larger diameter valves without having to alter the bore size or flycutting the pistons.”
New Ford Crate Motors Up To 535-HP!
Ford Racing recently released two new crate motors with very competitve pricing. First is the X-302, which features forged pistons, boost-friendly 9:1 compression, hydraulic-roller E303 cam, and X-306 heads. This adds up to 306-ci of displacement pumping out a very respectable 340-hp.
For those longing for dangerously dazzling displacement, Ford also has a 535-hp monster with 10.5:1 compression, a meaty 427-ci featuring a steel crank, H-beam rods, and forged pistons topped with Z heads. Both come without a distributer, wires, intake, carb, or a fuel system, headers, or flywheel.
$3495 for the 306, $8800 for the 427.
Mustang Depot’s New Billet Grille for 1969 Mustang
Mustang Depot has a new billet grille for 1969 Mustangs for that horizontal look. From their site:
“These beautifully designed Billet Grills mount in the existing grill locations and add an awesome, custom look to your early model Mustang. Our grills are welded and utilize 30-40% more billet bars than the average billet grills on the market. This feature provides each grill with tight spacing, a near perfect fit, and a stronger more durable product.”
